Songwriter and musician Mark Woollacott offers genuine relaxation through the release of his melodic synthesizer music. His debut album A Calm Light (an album created specifically as an aid to achieving relaxation) was released on 1st June 2007 and features over an hour of deeply restful relaxation music.
Purchased and used mostly by therapists from the 'Health and Beauty' and 'Complementary Therapy' sectors, A Calm Light is proving to be quite popular with customers. “I am delighted with the album,” says Mark, who produced, mixed and engineered the album himself. “Its effective use of repetitive phrasing, musical consistency and slow tempo result in a form of music, that I believe, can be extremely useful for gently relaxing the mind and body. Customers have commented on how the music has improved the quality of their sleep as well as producing a restful atmosphere for them to relax in. But the key to genuine relaxation is really knowing how to rest and quieten the mind and how to relax the muscles in the body, and relaxation music is an ideal medium for creating an atmosphere which is conducive to this.”
Mark's second album of synthesizer music, Ocean Splendour, was released in November 2007. One of the tracks from this album (The Whale's Last Journey) received airplay on BBC radio soon after its release, and other tracks from the album have received excellent reviews. "Ocean Splendour was created for people who have an affinity with the sea," says Mark. Its music conjures breathtaking visions of wide open seascapes and old-world oceanic mythology. Mark’s original idea for the album was to create a work which would musically encompass various aspects of ocean life: from the creatures associated with the seas, its aesthetics and ever-changing nature, it’s mythology, and how sailing and exploration has provided humanity with a greater understanding of the ocean.
The inspiration for Mark's instrumental music is drawn mostly from the beauty of the natural world. Mark, who is from south west England, is a self-taught musician and songwriter. In addition to playing the synthesizer, he also plays the electric guitar and enjoys creative interests such as writing novels, scriptwriting and photography.
